Hur du bär pyjamastrenden (utan att skämmas!)
Stockings: Wolford, Shoes: Gucci
I was about to head out in my morning gown in Milan. At Fashion Week.
It was the 21st of September 2016, Milan Fashion Week was having its first day and I was about to take the step out on the streets of Milan with trashed jeans, a black t-shirt, loafers and a silk morning gown. The pyjama trend was a fact and I had decided to wear it without shame.
To honour the day I had also chosen to put half of my hair up in a bun on the top of my head, paint my lips in a eye-catching red hue and make some homemade jewellery of my mum's gold bracelets and the most glittery earrings I could find.
...you could say that I was a tad nervous and shaky when I stepped out in the stairwell. I remember hoping that the neighbours wouldn't see me (what up with that, I was just about to head out in bright daylight in a jam-packed Milan)
When I got down to street level I did it. I decided that this wasn't the time to chicken out. Instead I held my head high and walked the street with steps of conficence. I took the metro to Gucci's show, talked a few words with Nina Garcia, got past the first lines of guards, met Paola Modugno, a big italian fashion blogger, who I spent the rest of the day with.
...and you know what? I saw four shows at Milan Fashion Week.
How did I get in to shows at Milan Fashion Week without invitation?
I straightened up, I talked, laughed and walked with my head high. You could call it luck, but I believe it was more to it than that. I think that when you decide to do something, when you've planned for success, opportunities will present themselves. And then it's your job to say yes.
...so my best tip for wearing a nightgown, morning gown or a pyjama in the middle of the day without any shame?
Well, it's all about how you feel! Do you feel full of confidence and like a million dollars? Then that's what you'll be percieved as, and no one, I mean NO ONE, will think about the fact that you're wearing what normal people sleep in - and hey, we're not normal right? Also, pretty sustainable having multiple areas of use for one garment right?
Other smart tips from me to you is, as always, to follow the old physics law that opposite attracts: what would you NOT wear in bed? Leather jacket, jeans, sneakers... All good to give some edge to the silk pyjama.
Remember!
Modern women don't choose between sustainability and luxury, we take them both
Love,
Amina
P.S. Here's my first day on MFW
